Dart Energy notes the article in The Daily Mirror dated 27 November 2014 regarding the Gresford Colliery disaster of 1934 and the planning permission to drill a vertical borehole at Borras, Holt some distance from the disaster site.
The proximity to the disaster site was fully considered by Dart Energy and the relevant authorities at the time of the planning application and it was concluded that there would be no effect on the disaster zone. The borehole is in fact over a kilometre distant from the nearest mined seam and more than 1.5 km from the actual disaster zone. Following the Colliery disaster, mining continued until 1973, and workings extended past the location of the disaster. Dart Energy conducts its operations and environmental assessments to the highest standard and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
