Oil & Gas
Natural gas continues to be one of the key pillars of the UK’s energy mix.
Natural gas continues to be one of the key pillars of the UK’s energy mix and a vital part of our economy providing heat, electricity and raw materials. Natural gas is the second largest final energy source in the UK, representing 35% of energy demand.
Oil forms a key part of the UK’s energy mix. 42% of the UK’s total energy production in 2021 was from crude oils extracted from the UK’s Continental Shelf, and UK refineries produced over 50 million tonnes of oil products.
Road transport represents the largest share of UK petroleum product demand, followed by non-energy use (manufacturing of goods) and aviation demand.
